The term ‘debugging’ was coined/popularized/it’s a great story by Grace Hopper (wikipedia entry) after removing an actual moth (img below) from her computer that was causing glitches.
This project attempts to do the opposite, inserting bugs in the machine. In this case the insects are samples that I recorded in video through a microscopy and the glitches were caused by the continuous back and forth between digital and magnetic formats.

Este proyecto usa la idea de ‘debugging’ (depurar? limpiar?) para investigar una de las posibles relaciones entre insectos y máquinas. En este caso, se usa la historia de la Almirante Grace Hopper quien, habiendo encontrado una polilla en un computador que estaba causando errores, anotó en su bitácora el primer caso literal de ‘debugging’.
Grabé videos de insectos de un muestrario con un microscopio digital. Esa grabación la traspasé a formato magnético (vhs) y nuevamente a digital, muchas veces hasta conseguir errores, glitches.
